What is a Master Certified Coach?

A Master Certified Coach, or MCC, is the highest level of certification offered by the International Coaching Federation, the most credible body that governs the field.

In total, there are 48,598 International Coaching Federation certified coaches. Of these coaches, 25,687 are Associate Certified Coaches (ACCs) and 21,021 are Professional Certified Coaches (PCCs). The remaining 3.8% are MCCs (ICF 2022).

My journey to become a Master Certified Coach:

I made the decision to become a MCC after several years of being in the field of leadership development. I chose Georgetown University to do my educational development requirement. I then undertook thousands of hours of coaching practice and passed all exams required by the International Coaching Federation. I continue with the educational requirements year after year.

My investment in continuous learning is a parallel to the investment in continuous learning being asked of my clients. How can I expect executives to invest hours in advancing their leadership if I wasn’t interested in doing the same for myself and my profession?
