Looking for an executive coach in Rochester, New York?

Here are four questions to consider.

Executive coaching is a common solution to advancing your leadership in Rochester, New York and beyond and is utilized by Rochester-based companies of all types, sizes, and across industries.

According to a study done by Metrix Global, companies received an average return of $7.90 for every $1 invested into executive coaching, and there are observable productivity increases reported by 53% of executives who participate.

Many Rochester senior leaders and executives enter their first conversations not quite knowing what questions to ask. They often want to see if they are comfortable and at ease to determine a good fit. While these are important factors, they are not enough to sufficiently select the right executive leadership coach for you.

Here are four questions to help you fully assess the right executive leadership coach, with some context on my approach:

  1. What credentials do you have and what do they mean?

The International Coaching Federation offers three credentials for coaches: Associate, Professional, and Master Certified Coach. Their credentials are considered by many to be the 'gold standard' in the coaching field. There are other credentials offered through programs like CoachU.

  2. What is your coaching experience and success rate with leaders like me?

I have had the honor of working with hundreds of Rochester-based leaders. When assessing the right executive leadership coach for you, consider reviewing the testimonials on their website to learn about their clients’ success stories.

  3. How do you define and measure success in a coaching engagement?

Success for each coaching engagement is unique. When I work with clients, we co-create an agreement which outlines the initial goals the leader wants to work towards, and success is measured by attainment of those goals.

  4. What is the typical commitment level and cost?

An up-front understanding of what is expected from a time and financial commitment is important. For me, each renewable coaching engagement requires a commitment of one year during which the leader can have as many coaching sessions as desired. Typically, we meet every three or four weeks, either in Rochester, NY in-person or virtually. A fee is established for the year and all services are included and outlined in the agreement. I do not bill by the hour.
