The Least Important Thing About You Should Be Your Title.

Titles may be something customers look for when they first meet you. They want to know what authority you have in your organization to help resolve issues and make decisions.

But the most important thing people remember about you is your compassion, caring and follow-through. Do people feel positive energy in your presence? Can people count on you to have their back, inside and outside the organization?

We recently worked with a large retailer and their sub-contractors on a construction project at our home. There were many issues to resolve along the way. Some required immediate responses and problem-solving.

One person stood out. His name is LeBaron Hill-Van Buren.

LeBaron made sure we knew what was going on every step of the way. He cared about us, not just about processing a construction job. He even went back to the office one night just to give us an update because he didn’t want us to worry until the next day. LeBaron does not have a big title but he made a lasting impression on us with his dedication and leadership.

The most interesting thing about you should be how much people feel you care about them - not your title.
