The Antidote to Languishing

Organizational psychologist, author, and professor, Adam Grant, sums up the emotional state of people in 2021 with one word. This word is "languishing" which refers to that feeling of “meh” -- the place where delight has been dulled and your drive is not what it once was. Languishing is a sense of stagnation and emptiness — the void between depression and flourishing.

I began to think about this emotion, how it relates to our organizations and the remedy for it. The antidote begins with the brain.

I’d like to reflect on the following questions as part of this month’s #CoachingConversations.

In what ways do we as leaders create environments where people are learning and growing in order to flourish? How do we create vibrancy, re-energize and empower our teams, and build connections in 2021? Who do you want and need to be in order to lift your spirits and the spirits of your teams and customers?

As you consider these questions, I would love to discuss ways you and your organizations are lighting the path to an inspired, fulfilling future.
